some were washing. some were having chitchats. others were moving in. the shantytown/ghetto area near the St. Michael Cathedral here in Qingdao, once the birthplace of the city’s commercial boom, is becoming a thing of the past and people living in these will inevitably be resettled. to be honest, i was a little bit surprised at what i saw - these people are very friendly and always in a merry mood, despite the very poor living conditions.
